Baba Harapeer Mela: A Joyful Festival of Faith in Jammu
In the peaceful village of Sai Kalan Tehsil Suchetgarh District Jammu, the Baba Harapeer Dargah is a holy place loved by many. On 19 June 2025, this dargah will host its yearly mela (fair) to honor Baba Harapeer, a Sufi saint who taught people to live together with love and kindness.
The baba harapeer mela is a big event where thousands of people come to pray, celebrate, and enjoy. Devotees offer colorful cloths (chadars), light lamps, and tie threads at the dargah, asking for blessings. People of all religions join the fair, showing how Jammu’s culture brings everyone together.
The fair isn’t just about prayers—it’s also full of fun! Local artists sing folk songs and perform dances. Stalls sell handmade crafts, tasty snacks like spicy kaladi (a local cheese dish), and warm Kashmiri kahwa tea. Families shop, eat, and enjoy the lively atmosphere.
The organizers say this baba harapeer mela helps keep traditions alive and spreads Baba Harapeer’s message of peace. “Here, no one cares about differences. we all celebrate as one,” says a volunteer. As evening falls, the dargah glows with lights, and everyone prays for happiness and unity.
The Baba Harapeer Mela is more than a festival. Whether you come for faith, food, or fun, this fair welcomes all with open arms!
