The Congress government on August 30 launched the Gruha Lakshmi Scheme in Mysuru, an anticipated scheme to provide financial assistance of ₹2,000 to female heads of households in Karnataka.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was also present on this special occasion and was conducting the function at Maharaja College in front of a large group of beneficiaries.
Kharge ji inaugurated the event and then Gandhi ji was handed an electronic tablet which he pressed the button to initiate the scheme. After the launch, Gandhiji said that crores of women in Karnataka who had registered for the scheme would immediately receive financial assistance of ₹2,000.
“Women heads of families will start receiving ₹2,000 every month,” Gandhiji said and declared that the Griha Lakshmi scheme was the largest money receipt scheme in the country.
Social Welfare Minister H.C. Mahadevappa, who is the minister in charge of Mysuru district, and Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi were present.
